WEEK 8 - EXP 2: THE SPACE BETWEEN; EXPORTING PARALLEL PROJECTION MODEL TO LUMION

I had chosen the parallel projection which unified the respective concepts of Incarnation (from Yakov Chernokov) and Natural Extraction (from Bernard Tschumi).

The literal interpretation of Incarnation is the embodiment of something spiritual and holding a great sense of quality. This is used in context where a particular thing or object already holds the desirable attributes and is compared with something average or standard to highly show emphasis of its distinct elements. Whilst the word "extraction" has a differing connotation of forcible movement to create separation. Extraction often goes hand in hand with the removal of something foreign, possibly a phenomena holding back a particular thing or object's potential.

Though these concepts do established themselves as conflicting, both incarnation and extraction are ideologies which are concurrently present in today's society, where both provide a developing growth from good and bad, ensuring one to undergo unique and informed experiences.

As shown in the above images, it can be seen that both buildings representing each concept is visually interlocked together. This action further reiterates how both the experience of evolving and while being selectively decisive with their personal actions provides a driving appreciation in the coming various human experiences, especially in a university context suitable for UNSW.

WEEK 6 - EXP 2: THE SPACE BETWEEN; CONCEPTS

Architectural Concepts in relation to each respective architect:

  • Bernard Tschumi:
    • Configuration of space leads to balance
    • Deconstruction leads to construction
    • Freeform/ Seamlessness.
      • Creating seamless form from existing flaws (building from what is readily available or existent).
      • Continuous Participation/Movement established within building leads to balance; an integral component of architecture which allows the "completion" of a building's presence
    • "Meaning" overrides physicality.
      • Translation of a message has high importance in the creation of Tschumi's architecture.
    • Main movement or circulation leads priority, leading to natural extraction of homogenous materials at last moment.

  • Yakov Chernikhov
    • Post-Modern/ Avant-garde drawings (Revolutionary drawings)
    • Manifestation
    • Illumination
    • Grandeur
    • Incarnation in volumetric-spatial forms of human conceptions leads to new styles, rather than the reshaping of basic existing form.
      • New content formulates from new requirements
